The Benefits of an Anti Inflammation Diet Using Omega 3 DHA Fish Oil

An anti inflammation diet will have little chance of succeeding without the most powerful and natural anti-inflammatory substance known – omega 3 fish oil. Here’s how it works for you and what to look for to ensure you get the maximum benefits.

Inflammation in the body is responsible for thousands of premature deaths every year as it has no symptoms and can strike at any time.

As our diets tend to be poor these days with the low nutritional value of the food we consume, taking a daily fish oil supplement can help to put the body back in balance and significantly reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes.

It is also estimated that well over 85% of the population is lacking in omega 3 as it only comes from our diet and most fish today contains many toxins like mercury and lead and low levels of omega 3 due to the farming practices.

These oils help your anti inflammation diet by converting the main omega 3 fatty acid, DHA, into a chemical called Resolvin D2 which is an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory substance.

It also helps to prevent the platelets in the blood from sticking together and forming clots to further reduce the risk of strokes.

In addition of course you get many other essential health benefits like prevention of cancer, lower cholesterol and improved brain health and mental well-being.

However, like any nutritional product on the market today there are good and bad ones and fish oil is no exception.

If the oil is not pure or has low levels of omega 3 then you will receive little or no benefits, especially if it hasn’t been distilled to remove the contaminants from the fish.

High DHA levels are essential but rare to find so look to get at least 270mg per individual capsule for the greatest benefits.

The process of molecular distillation removes all the toxins from the fish and is very important unless the fish is proven to be completely pure, which is the case with the New Zealand Hoki due to the pristine waters it lives in.

In fact when Hoki oil is combined with distilled Tuna oil you get over twice the anti-inflammatory benefits of a standard one!

I hope you understand now why omega 3 fish oil is such an important part of any anti inflammation diet and can help you to maintain optimal health now and avoid storing up trouble for the future.

What’s a Healthy Fish Oil Intake Amount to Have Daily?

When it comes to a daily fish oil intake level, many factors come into play. What is more important though than the actual amount you take is the quality of the oil itself. However much of a poor quality supplement you take, you will still receive little or no health benefits. Here’s how to avoid that.

As a rough guide, 1 or 2g a day is a good of a pure distilled oil, but it’s important to bear in mind the levels of omega 3 fats within the oil as these are the ones that provide all the benefits.

DHA and EPA are the two most effective ones with DHA recently being shown to provide most of the health benefits, so the first thing is to look at the individual amounts.

For example my fish oil intake is two capsules a day, each one containing 1000mg of oil of which 280mg is DHA and 120mg is EPA, so I get almost 1000mg or 1g of omega 3 a day.

You will find that most oils have a much lower level of DHA so it pays to find the ones with a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA otherwise you will not get the full benefits, especially where brain and heart health are concerned.

A quality oil will be molecularly distilled to remove the toxins from the fish unless it is proven to be completely free from any contamination. The only one today to have that distinction is the Hoki fish from New Zealand as the waters are still pristine.

Although it is not really possible to overdose on fish oil, there is little benefit in taking very high does which I have seen some companies advertise, like 10,000mg. After a certain point, the body has enough omega 3 and cannot use the rest so unless you have a serious pre-existing condition like heart disease or severe arthritis, the daily fish oil intake that I have shown is enough.

If you do have a severe condition then doubling the dose I have shown to 4 capsules a day should be enough.

So as you can see, many factors can influence the potential health benefits from this wonderful oil, with the daily fish oil intake being just one of them.

Consuming Fish Oil To Help Your Blood Pressure Is One of the Smartest Things You Can Do

Let me assure you suffering from high blood pressure and cholesterol is no fun at all — I have been taking medication for both of these problems for many years.

It is probably too late for me to get off them now, however changing to a superior brand of fish oil supplements 6 months ago has helped reduce both my blood pressure and cholesterol level a little bit.

It is pretty much beyond doubt omega-3 DHA and EPA fatty acids benefit your body and mind in many ways.

None more so than by helping to improve arterial health by reducing triglycerides and balancing HDL and LDL cholesterol better. Naturally having an improved blood flow reduces our risk of getting blood clots from clogged arteries that can result in a heart attack or stroke.

Arguably the best way to get more fish oil in your diet is to eat oily fish 2 to 3 times a week.

Unfortunately this solution usually turns out to be easier said than done, we start out with good intentions of buying fresh fish each week but often don’t get around to it. Then of course there is the cost issue… 30 years ago fish was cheap to buy — but those days are long gone.

For many years now I have been taking fish oil supplements daily. However it’s only been in the last six months that I realized buying the cheapest ones, and not fully understanding the real issues has meant that I haven’t been getting the most benefits from taking them — which I should have got.

When I became interested in researching fish oil supplements I soon realized the amount of fatty acids in each soft gel is the most important ingredient. Also it became apparent that having almost double the amount of DHA to EPA omega-3 fatty acid ratio was equally as important.

Seriously think about consuming more fish oil, based on the hundreds of scientific and clinical tests conducted over the last few years, it’s pretty much beyond doubt omega-3 fatty acids are very beneficial in helping to control and improve both your blood pressure and cholesterol balance.

The Importance of Getting The Right Amount of Omega 3 Fatty Acids DHA and EPA in a Daily Supplement

With over 90% of the population estimated to be deficient in the omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, it is important to get more of these into our diets to help us maintain good health. Here are the facts about them and how they can help.

They are classed as essential because our bodies cannot make them, so they have to come from our diets. The most important one is DHA as it gives us most of the benefits and can easily be converted into EPA if needed by the body.

These omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA can help prevent heart disease, treat rheumatoid arthritis, prevent breast and skin cancer, improve vision and memory and help to heal the skin, reversing the signs of aging.

The US National Eye Institute says that omega 3 reduces the risk of age related blindness by over 30% in a recent study and found that that it helps the eyes by acting as an anti-inflammatory, one of their key features.

It is their anti-inflammatory qualities that help to reduce heart disease and heart attacks as inflammation in the body creeps up on you silently until it’s too late to deal with.

The very best source today is fatty fish, Hoki in particular, as it contains naturally high levels of DHA and low amounts of toxins. However, most fish today can put you at risk of heavy metal poisoning so experts agree that a daily distilled fish oil supplement is the best solution so you can control the quality and amount you get.

Look for high levels of DHA and check that they have been molecularly distilled to remove all the contaminants to ensure pure and safe oil, especially for pregnant mothers and kids.

It is good to get a minimum of 250mg of DHA per supplement to reap the maximum rewards as many contain much less.

If you add a fish oil supplement to your daily routine, you can get the huge benefits of the omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA to help you stay healthy and avoid many of the deadly diseases later on in life.
