The Power of Self-Talk - Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life

Self-Talk is something we do all the time. Through out the day we have a stream of thoughts constantly running through our mind. How many time have you tried to get to sleep at night but can’t shut of your racing thoughts about some problem you have?

Do you think Michael Phelps said to himself at the Olympics “I’ll never win this race, I’m just too darn slow”? Of course not. Then why do we do it? Before a job interview, we might think to ourself “I’ll never get this job… I always do terrible at interviews… It’s probably a crappy job anyway… I don’t even want it.” Is this going to help you get the job? No. Your thoughts and attitude show through to people.

We constantly sabotage our own efforts with this kind of negative self-talk all the time. Just stop doing it. From now on, every time you catch yourself thinking like this, just stop and turn it around. As soon as you get to “It’s probably a crappy job anyway”, stop and repeat to yourself “I CAN get this job… I have talent and the ability to do this kind of work… I have a great personality and people like me… I’m going to do great at this interview”.

Who do you think has the better chance of success in this situation? The hardest part about all this is catching your thoughts before they run away with you. Just practice catching yourself through out the day. The more you practice, the easier it gets!

The very hardest thoughts to catch are angry thoughts. Someone cuts you off in traffic. The next thing you know, you’re speeding to catch up with the person so you can ride their bumper. Maybe even get past them and you’ll be able to give them the finger. Oh… wouldn’t that show them a thing or two. Then for the next half hour you can drive the rest of the way home from work thinking of what you’d say to the person if you got a hold of them. The imaginary argument builds in your head until you see yourself punching the person in the nose and walking away in triumph.

Be honest, you’ve had these kinds of thoughts before. I know I have. Everyone does. The trick is to catch it before you get too much negative emotion in invested in it. The more negative emotion you put into your thoughts, the harder they are to control. Catch it early. The earlier the better.

This is a trick I use to not get mad at other drivers. Someone races by me and cuts me off. I think to myself “Oh well, maybe he just got a phone call that his wife was in an accident and he’s on his way to the hospital to see her”. I then remember the several times in my life that I forget about the traffic laws to get to my family members who were in trouble or in the hospital.

There are many little tricks like this you can use to change your thought patterns. And we’ll be exploring many more of them in future posts. Remember, the more you think a certain way, the stronger and more habitual these thoughts become. If used in a good way it works out to your advantage. Give it a try the next time you want to get angry at another driver and see what happens.

Why can you do about it you might ask? - There is only one answer: Deal with it right away. Don’t wait for them to go away on their own. They won’t! I see another question coming up: Exactly how do I make my dark skin spots go away? Here you have some choices:

Some important things to remember before using your own homemade skin bleach:

Always clean your facial skin thoroughly prior to bleaching your skin
Never apply skin bleach to your eye area or eye lids
Remember: if you are bleaching your face skin, you should also bleach your neck. Otherwise you will get a funny looking difference between your facial skin and your neck skin color.
If this is your very first time trying to use a homemade skin bleach, don’t do it right before (or shortly before) an important even like a birthday party, wedding, graduation, corporate party etc. Chances are the first time try will give you some unpredictable results as well as negative skin reaction. It might take a few days before your skin settles and the redness is gone!

How do I know all this you might ask? Because I’ve don it all myself. One day I complained to my best friend about a dark spot on my skin under my left eye and how much it was bothering me. She happily shared a “great and instant solution” for my irritating problem. She gave me her own proven homemade skin bleach recipe. I gladly followed her advice… and I did it the day before I had to go to a wedding. To make the story short: I wished I used my concealer instead!!!

I will give you just one more warning: if you skin starts to feel a bit of a burning sensation, it might be a normal reaction. But if you feel an intense burning feeling - remove your homemade skin bleach off your skin right away! As a great precaution method it is highly recommended to do a five minute skin test (on the inside of your arm) to make sure this procedure is right for your skin type.

If all this seems like something you might want to try on your own, you most certainly can. But if you are looking for a safer and many times proven alternative to a homemade skin bleach, you need to know that there are some good and even great safe, very effective all natural skin brighteners out there that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

If your faical skin is dry, itchy and does not get the proper moisturizing on a daily basis you are at high risk of developing premature facial wrinkles. Remember that one single change in you facial skin moisturizing regiment might make a world of difference for your complexion! Techniques

One of the most effective and time proven technique is to set up a sleeping time and stick with it. An hour before you go to sleep, lay down with the baby and start pacifying. All moms have different approaches. You can either breast feed the baby, give her a warm bath or simply a bottle of milk will do.

Yes, you can cradle the bassinet. Developing a sleeping time is not a cure for a good night sleep but it is the most vital step in getting your baby to start sleeping at night.
